Decolonizing Your Health with Ayurveda

45 US dollars
Mother Yoga Seattle

Service Description

In this 2-hour workshop, Family Nurse Practitioner, Gillian Ehrlich, tells stories about the ways in which Ayurveda, the traditional medical system from India, can help us rethink our health and healthcare. Decolonization starts with pulling out from a paternalistic approach of seeking ’normal’ and ‘averages’ to reconnect with Self. We’ll examine the historical roots and limitations of modern medicine including the current orientation towards medicating us for Capitalism (treat symptoms so we resume producing our widgets!). Then, we pivot to embrace a personalized, self-aware approach to health and medical care that is deeply anchored in the ancient Ayurvedic principles of genomics, metabolism, and the insight-driven life. Come away with a new perspective about healthcare and how to get your needs met, including how and when to utilize conventional vs Functional Medicine vs integrative medicine vs Ayurveda vs self-healing. All questions about medicine welcome. 5 free spaces open for our BIPOC and LGBTQ community.
