THE BHAGAVAD GITA: A COMPLETE IMMERSION

288 US dollars
Mother Yoga Seattle

Class Description

The Bhagavad Gita is one of the most revered texts in all of yoga, yet it is also one of the most misunderstood. While many students read the Gita, few ever encounter it in its proper context within the vast landscape of the Mahabharata, the living tradition of meditation, and the experiential practices that transform philosophy into direct realization. This immersive two-day training is designed for experienced students, serious practitioners, and yoga teachers who wish to move beyond the foundations of a 200-hour teacher training and enter deeply into the heart of yoga's philosophical tradition. Together we will journey through all eighteen chapters of the Bhagavad Gita, exploring the unique path each chapter offers toward liberation. Through the teachings of Sri Krishna, we will examine karma, devotion, meditation, wisdom, action, self-realization, and the ultimate nature of consciousness itself. A central focus of this training will be the Mahabharata the epic from which the Gita emerges. Far too often, the Gita is studied in isolation, removed from the story that gives it its profound meaning. To truly understand Krishna's teachings, one must understand the events that precede the dialogue, the characters who inhabit it, and the greater narrative that continues long after the battlefield of Kurukshetra. Students will explore the symbolism, psychology, metaphysics, and spiritual teachings woven throughout the epic, gaining insight rarely available in conventional yoga education. Opportunities to study the Bhagavad Gita in conjunction with the Mahabharata, meditation, traditional yoga philosophy, and embodied practice are exceedingly rare. This training offers a depth of study that extends far beyond what is typically available in modern yoga settings. Throughout the weekend, themed vinyasa practices and meditation sessions will illuminate the teachings of the text, demonstrating why the Gita insists that true understanding cannot arise through intellectual study alone. Meditation and yoga practice are not separate from the teachingsthey are the means through which the teachings become lived experience.
